NOTICE: pursuant to OAR 165-007-0550 (4), Clackamas County Elections will publish election results to both the State Election Night reporting system and on the County Elections Division website based on this schedule. Updates may occur more frequently as additional ballots are counted. Final certification by Clackamas County Elections will occur by April 10, 2023.

March 14, 2023 Special Election

Important Dates

January 28 – Elections Division mailed ballots to Military and Overseas voters.
February 13 – Elections Division mails ballots to out of state voters.
February 21 – Voter Registration Deadline.  New Oregon voters can register to vote online at oregonvotes.gov, mail a voter registration form, or register in person.
February 22 – Elections Division begins to mail ballots to voters. Official Drop Sites will be opened.
February 27 – Elections Division conducts Public Certification of Tally system at 9:00 a.m. Observers are welcome.
March 1 – Elections Division conducts Public Certification of Tally system prior to scanning ballots. Observers are welcome.
March 9 – Last Day Elections Division can mail replacement ballots to voters.  After this date voters can pick up a replacement ballot in person through Election Day.
March 14 – Election Day - Elections Division will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Ballots must be mailed with a valid postmark or returned to an Official Ballot Drop Site by 8 p.m.  Elections Division conducts Public Certification of Tally system at 9:00 a.m.
March 21 – Last day for Elections Division to receive valid, postmarked ballots by mail.
April 4 – Deadline for voters with a notice of challenged ballot to resolve and cure with the Elections Division.
April 6 – Elections Division conducts Public Certification of Tally system at 2:00 p.m.
April 10 – Deadline for Elections Division to Certify Official Results

What's on the ballot?

City of West Linn Councilor (Two Positions)

This election was originally scheduled for November 2022 but due to an error in directions on the ballot; the Secretary of State directed the City of West Linn to postpone the city council contest until March. The March 14, 2023 Special Election is being conducted exactly as it would have been in November, with the same filed candidates and the same candidate statements in the Voters’ Pamphlet. Only voters who live in the City of West Linn will receive a ballot.

Mailing your Ballot-

Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, March 14, 2023 and received within 7 days at the County Elections Office. Stamps are not required.

November 8, 2022 General Election Results Schedule

NOTICE: pursuant to OAR 165-007-0550 (4), Clackamas County Elections will publish election results to both the State Election Night reporting system and on the County Elections Division website based on this schedule. Updates may occur more frequently as additional ballots are counted. Final certification by Clackamas County Elections will occur by December 5, 2022.

Zero Results will be replaced with scheduled unofficial updates as indicated.

Friday, 11/11 - No Results Update (Veterans Day Holiday)

Saturday, 11/12 -  We are finalizing processing ballots received through 8:00 pm on Election Day.  The next unofficial results update will be posted between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to include those totals.

     Notice of Measure Election can be filed after Public Notice has been published and challenge period expires.

             Measure Numbers are issued when Measure Filing is accepted.

 

City Candidate Election

City Candidates will submit filings to the City Recorder as indicated in the Candidate Manual.  Candidates will submit candidate nominating petitions to the City Recorder.  The City Recorder will submit the signatures to the County Elections Office for verification.  Petition Verification is completed first come, first served. Please review the candidate manual for complete instructions.

Ballot Statements must be certified to the Elections office by 9/8/2022 at 5:00 pm.

 

Voters' Pamphlet Statements

Notice of Measure Election and/or Certified Ballot Statements must be filed with County Elections office before we can begin accepting Candidate Statements and Measure Arguments.

     1.  Request for Ballot Title - SEL805:  

            Deadline is 5:00 pm on August 19th.  The County will publish a public notice.  After the 7 business day challenge period expired the measure can be filed.

Nov. 8, 2022 General Election

December 5, 2022 – Final Public Test of our Vote Tally System will be at 10:00 am.  Official Final Results will be posted upon completion.  This test is open to the public for observation.  Space may be limited.

Administrative Recount Schedule:

December 5 - Batches of Ballots will be pulled as directed by the Secretary of State.

December 6 – Hand Count teams will begin at 9:00 am. 

December 7 – Hand counting will continue 9:00-5:00 until complete

December 13 – Last day to complete hand count of ballots

Measure Arguments

After measure numbers are assigned a statement may be submitted in favor or in opposition to a measure. Arguments in favor and in opposition to measures are published in the County Voters’ Pamphlet. Arguments are published, by measure, in the order that they are submitted to the County Elections Office. 

How to File:

  1. Review/Complete: Measure Argument for Voters' Pamphlet.
  2. Prepare Statement.  Statements are limited to 325 words, including Statements of Endorsement.  
  3. Proof your statement.  Arguments will be printed as provided.  Corrections to spelling and grammar will not be made.
  4. Submit.  An original hard copy and payment are required but the deadline.  
    • Fee: Cash/Check only.  See fee schedule above
    • Deadline:  September 12, 2022 at 5:00pm
