As Clackamas County begins to re-open, Sheriff's Office staff must return to their regular duties.

Since April 6, this hardworking group of community and agency partners and volunteers helped thousands of people and distributed over 65,000 pounds of food.

Public Safety Training Center

The Public Safety Training Center is a great indoor shooting range in Clackamas Oregon. In addition to the handgun and rifle shooting range, you can take tactical shooting classes, gun safety courses, defensive shooting classes and survival workshops. We also offer fingerprinting, passport photos and concealed handgun licenses. Join us for women's gun safety course, defensive shooting classes, low-light shooting, wilderness survival training and CPR.

Blue Range
This is the range that is primarily used by public shooters. The targets are manually operated. Additionally, there is a laterally moving target that can be used for moving target drills.

This range is used primarily for law enforcement training. A wide variety of target systems are available including friend/foe moving targets.

Non-member range fee

$18 per visit
All PSTC users must take a safety orientation course test. Minimum age allowed on the range is 12 years old. Users under 18 years of age must be supervised by a legal guardian.

MILO Range Force Option Simulator

The PSTC offers a MILO Range Force Option Simulator. A variety of training scenarios and basic handgun, rifle and shotgun courses on the simulator are available. The simulator provides great training opportunities for shoot/don't-shoot decision-making.

Fingerprinting and Passport Photos

Inkless fingerprinting

We provide inkless digital fingerprinting services transferred to (FD258) hard cards for purposes such as: personal background, pre-employment screening, licensing applications, record expungement, etc.

You can schedule an appointment for fingerprinting and passport photo services by calling 503-794-8072 Monday – Friday:

Practical Pistol League

Competing in the Practical Pistol League

Our goal is to provide ongoing practical shooting skill development for public and law enforcement shooters. Skills practiced in our Practical Pistol League may include:

  • Presentations from the holster
  • Rapid Fire
  • Speed and tactical reloading
  • Use of cover
  • Movement
  • Target identification
  • Multiple Targets
  • Moving Targets
  • Low Light
  • No Light (Flashlight)
  • One hand firing - Strong and Support hand

Operation

PPL meets at the PSTC for 6 consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9 p.m. A new league starts every other month. 

We generally shoot 3 separate exercises every night — a standard qualification course (many shooters on the line simultaneously) and 2 individual exercises (1 shooter at a time). These exercises may involve dry fire, live fire, role-playing or simulator use.

Plan to shoot, and come prepared with 150 rounds for each of the 6 sessions.

Administration

You must register for the League in advance and pay in person or over the phone by calling 503-794-8023. Participation is limited to 10 for each 6-week League. Fees are $160.

Training Prerequisite

Practical Pistol League is open to PST 102 graduates and those who successfully challenge the class standards through the PST 102 level. For more information, contact the PSTC at 503-794-8023.

Equipment Requirements

Practical Pistol League is meant to be practice for self-defense and is oriented toward using what you carry:

  • Self-defense or duty handgun (minimum caliber 9mm/.38 spl.)
  • Safe concealable or duty strong side hip holster
  • Magazine or speed loader carrier
  • At least 3 magazines or speed loaders
  • A tactical flashlight is strongly suggested

Scoring and Prizes

Practical Pistol League is intended as a training, practice, recreational and social event. Scores are for fun, artificial training stress and informal competition with oneself and others.

Friday: Ladies' Special

Clean-Fire Ammunition

Helpfull staffAll ammunition must be purchased from the PSTC Armory. When available, "clean fire" ammunition will be used. It virtually eliminates lead vapors generated at the firing point — by combining a total metal jacket and a priming mixture containing no toxic elements.

Ammunition for all classes must be purchased from the Public Safety Training Center on day of class.

Armory Supplies

For the convenience of the shooting enthusiast, the PSTC Armory carries eye protection, hearing protection (electronic and standard over-ear options), targets and self-defense carry ammunition catering to both the public and law enforcement. Additional items include holsters, speed loaders, cleaning supplies, knives, pepper spray and branded PSTC merchandise.

The PSTC features a variety of firearms for rental. You must also purchase our ammunition to shoot at the PSTC's ranges.

Room Rentals

The Public Safety Training Center is pleased to offer specialized rooms for rent to meet the training and event needs of our business, community and law enforcement partners.

Classrooms/Meeting/Event Space

Classroom facilities

We offer a number versatile training and event rooms complete with dedicated computers, high-definition projectors, and wired speakers for larger events/presentations.We have several classrooms that can accommodate groups of 12, 24, 50 and up to100 individual students. Our classrooms can be converted to accommodate ceremonies which allow for an additional 30% capacity.

Defensive Tactics mat room

Defensive Tactics room

Our DT room is a great training room for hands on defensive tactics & martial arts training. Additionally, the room is equipped with padded walls and available cover for use of simunition round training.

Training dummies and handheld pads are available for use upon request.

Firearms Ranges

Our facility boast two 25 yard shooting ranges, one with eight lanes and the other with ten. Our ranges can be rented by the hour for training groups or private events.
