Do you have a passion for helping others, a love for the outdoors, and access to an RV or self-contained living unit? If so, being a Camp Host for Clackamas County Parks may be for you!
This is a great opportunity as we currently have seven (7) vacant Camp Host positions we are planning filling.
We are currently seeking Camp Host for the following properties:

  • Barton Park – 19009 SE Barton Park Rd, Boring, OR 97009
  • Metzler Park – 24526 S Metzler Park Rd, Estacada, OR 97023
  • Feyrer Park – 16185 S Feyrer Park Rd, Molalla, OR 97038

Role and responsibilities

Camp Hosts are the public-facing representatives of the Clackamas County Parks Department. If you are selected to be a Camp Host, you will greet visitors, answer, sell firewood, collect drop-in camp fees, as well as distribute publications and occasionally stock paper products in restrooms. As a Camp Host, you will promote care of the park by keeping a clean campsite and performing minor maintenance tasks. It is critical for Camp Hosts to be observant of situations that require immediate attention from park staff or law enforcement officers and seek help when emergencies occur.

Compensation

In return for their valued service, Camp Hosts are provided a campsite with utilities and access to laundry facilities at no cost.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Customer service experience
  • Commitment to support a safe, welcoming and respectful environment for fellow volunteers, park staff and guests
  • Must provide a presentable self-contained living unit (i.e. motorhome, 5th wheel, travel trailer, or similar)
  • Must commit to at least 25 hours of volunteer service per week
  • Must be on site 5 days per week and wiling to work weekends
  • Must pass a criminal background check

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior Camp Host experience
  • Light maintenance experience, such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry and/or use of small equipment

Schedule

Camp Host are required to log 25 hours per week, typically at five (5) hours per day. The expectation is that Camp Host will be in the park for five (5) days a week to offer adequate coverage, with weekend coverage being the most important.

Duration

Generally, Camp Host positions run from March – October; however, Camp Hosts that possess skills to provide maintenance services during winter months may have the duration of their positions extended.

The typical length of stay for new hosts is 1-3 months. Returning hosts may be able to stay longer (depending on their availability). Camping season is generally May 1 to September 30, with Barton East open through November 15.
