Accounting Specialist 1 (Part-Time)

The North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District seeks a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Specialist 1 to join our Finance Division team and play a crucial role in maintaining the district's financial integrity.

Under general supervision, you will prepare, reconcile, balance, adjust, and maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documents. Additionally, you will handle routine account summaries and respond to inquiries from both internal and external customers.

Role and responsibilities

Accounts Payable responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing payment requests, invoices, and vouchers for accuracy, and proper authorization
  • Verifying, coding, and entering vouchers into the financial system and submitting for payment
  • Reviewing vouchers for accuracy and attaching files to payment requests
  • Vendor maintenance, which entails payment processing updates, W-9's, and completing forms for address changes
  • Tracking and maintaining district-wide utility payments by reconciling auto-pay utility transactions in the procurement card system and monitoring transactions for accuracy and anomalies
  • Processing additional accounts payable by making payments online or through the phone with the division's procurement card and reconciling transactions in the procurement card system
  • Interpreting purchase orders and contracts.

Minimum qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of related accounts payable experience that included coding, preparing, and processing invoices for payment
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Knowledge of basic financial recordkeeping methods and practices
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service and communicate in a positive manner with all age groups.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Must pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check

Preferred qualifications

  • Working experience in Accounting and Finance in a governmental setting
  • Experience with large enterprise software packages (ERP)
  • Working experience in Accounting and Finance in a governmental setting

Hours and duration

This position works a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. The number of hours per week can vary but should not exceed 29 hours per week. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended. This position is eligible for full telework subject to the Clackamas County Teleworking Policy and based on the Department's business needs. Telework locations must be located in Oregon.
