Metal detecting is allowed at the following County Parks properties:
Ed Latourette
Ed Latourette is 30 acres on the Sandy River, located at 11701 SE Marsh Rd, Sandy, OR
Knights Bridge
Knights Bridge is 17 acres on the Molalla River, located at 7462 S Knights Bridge Rd, Canby, OR
Wagon Wheel
Wagon Wheel is 25 acres on the Molalla River, located at 28280 Cascade Hwy, S. Mulino, OR
While metal detecting, the following rules must be observed:
- All federal and state antiquity laws must be obeyed
- All articles found having a value over $100 must be turned in to the Park Ranger
- Any item found of unusual value should be treated according to the "Rights and Duties of Finders and Owners" defined in Chapter 98 of the Oregon Revised Statutes. Such items found within Clackamas County Parks should be reported to the Parks Department at 503-742-4414 so that they can be returned if possible
- Remain respectful of other user's space and privacy at all times; do not interfere with or disrupt other park users and/or activities
- Probing the ground is limited to the use of an ice pick or screwdriver-like tool with a maximum blade or shaft length of 6 inches, or a knife with a blade under 3 inches in width
- Any area disturbed MUST be returned to its previous state and the ground carefully leveled and returned to its original condition as much as possible (leave no trace)
- The cutting of vegetation is prohibited, as is the tampering with/moving of any park equipment or fixture
- The driving of motor vehicles to the digging site is prohibited
- Any trash or debris generated by metal-detecting activities must be removed from the park
- Metal detecting is limited to posted park day use hours
