DA seal In early March, Clackamas County District Attorney John Wentworth (left) traveled to Washington, D.C., with Clackamas Women’s Services Executive Director Melissa Earlbaum (center), and met with United States Senator Jeff Merkley (right) and others to support funding for the Victim of Crimes Act (VOCA).

Funding from VOCA supports more than 50 percent of the victim advocates in the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office, as well as non-profit advocates in the county. Wentworth also lobbied on behalf of family justice centers – including A Safe Place in Clackamas County and the Family Justice Center of Washington County -- which help individuals and families by providing support and safety planning for anyone experiencing family violence, sexual violence, stalking, or abuse against older adults and people with disabilities.
