Fees

Loose loads must be covered to prevent litter. Unsecured loads are subject to an additional $10 fee.

Accepted Recycling

The Clackamas County Garbage and Recycling Transfer Station accepts for recycling the same items accepted in curbside services, plus several additional drop-off services.

  • Curbside accepted paper, metal and plastic
  • Cardboard (collected separately)
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Scrap metal (including large and small appliances, bicycles, lawnmowers, etc.)
    • All liquids must be removed; no propane tanks
  • Wire (Christmas lights year-round, extension cords, household wiring)
  • Motor oil (limit 5 gallons per day; no other automotive fluids
  • Electronics (including TVs, laptops, computers, monitors, cables, etc.)
  • Lead acid batteries (vehicle batteries only)

Consider collecting and donating your beverage deposit containers to AntFarm (collection spot on site).

Prohibited Materials

  • Household Hazardous Waste (e.g., paints, batteries, light bulbs, cleaners, medical sharps, propane tanks, etc.)
    Please take household hazardous waste to the Metro South Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
  • Construction, demolition and remodeling debris containing asbestos
    The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality requires asbestos testing and documentation before disposal of construction, demolition and remodeling debris. Transfer stations will not accept suspected asbestos-containing materials without documentation.

Become a Master Recycler

Make a Difference Apply for Master Recycler Program

Take a 7-week course on sustainable consumption and recycling. The course includes over 25 local-expert speakers and tours of nearby recycling and reuse facilities. After you graduate, volunteer 30 hours in the community to share what you've learned and become certified!

Clackamas County hosts the course each spring, and we provide volunteer opportunities, assistance and resources to Master Recycler volunteers after the course is over. Volunteers have gone on to help at community events, schools, their workplace and in their neighborhoods.

Mixed Recycling

Depending on where you live and work, you may put recycling in a cart or container. Contact your garbage and recycling company for how best to prepare materials for collection. Learn what material is accepted in our regional recycling program below.

Yes! Mix these items in your recycling container

Paper

  • Newspaper
  • Magazines and phone books
  • Mixed and scrap paper
  • Paper bags
  • Cardboard, break down and flatten boxes
  • Shredded paper
  • Cartons: milk, juice, soup, rinsed
  • Aseptic containers: milk, juice, soup, rinsed

Plastic

Ignore numbers on the containers; they indicate plastic resin type, not whether an item is recyclable in our program. Empty and rinse containers

  • Plastic bottles, jugs and tubs, 6 ounces or larger
  • Buckets, 5 gallons or smaller
  • Rigid plant pots, 4 inches across or larger

Metal

Do not flatten cans, labels are ok, tin tops are ok if crimpled inside the can

  • Metal cans and containers, empty and rinse
  • Aerosol spray cans, empty
  • Aluminum foil, clean
  • Scrap metal and pieces, smaller than 30 inches and less than 30 pounds
  • Metal paint cans, empty and dry

Yes! Recycle in your separate glass container

Glass containers

Place glass in a separate glass only container at the curb.* Empty and rinse glass containers. Labels are ok, remove caps and corks.

Used Motor Oil

Set out used motor oil for collection in a marked, see-through container with a secure screw-top cap.
