Clackamas County Elections Completes Automatic Recounts for Gladstone and Molalla Contests

Required recounts did not change outcome of either contest.

Oregon City, OR – Clackamas County Elections completed the required automatic recounts for the City of Gladstone, Councilor, Position 3 and the City of Molalla, Councilor (three positions) on Thursday, Dec. 12. The automatic recounts affirmed the certified election results. Neither recount changed the outcome of these close local contests.

On Dec. 2, upon certification of the November 5, 2024 General Election, it was determined that there were two contests that required full automatic recounts. A full automatic recount is conducted when the difference in the number of votes cast between an apparently elected and an apparently defeated candidate is not more than one-fifth of one percent of the total votes cast for the office (ORS 258.280).  Election staff conducted the full automatic recount of more than 11,500 ballots over seven days.

The next scheduled election in Clackamas County is the May 20, 2025 Special District Election.
