Oct. 9 update on Milwaukie Police Department officer-involved shooting from Sept. 30

OREGON CITY, Or. – The investigation into the officer-involved shooting involving the Milwaukie Police Department from Sept. 30, 2024, remains ongoing.

Hunter Newton remains hospitalized at an area hospital. The involved officers remain on administrative leave currently.

Upon completion, the investigation will be turned over to the Oregon Department of Justice for review and presentation to a grand jury. The Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office is committed to participating in a swift and comprehensive review of the facts in this case and is grateful for the cooperation of the Milwaukie Police Department, the Interagency Major Crimes Team and the Oregon Department of Justice.
