OREGON CITY, Or. – Two police officers are on paid administrative leave after an officer-involved shooting early Monday morning in Milwaukie.
Just before 1 a.m. Sept. 30, two officers from the Milwaukie Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a driver with a suspended license at 11000 SE Oak Street in Milwaukie. During the traffic investigation, both officers fired their duty pistols, striking the driver. The officers’ use of force is under investigation.
Investigators have not released the name of the driver, who was provided emergency first aid by police and was then transported to an area hospital. He is in critical condition.
Both involved officers are on paid leave, which is standard procedure in police shooting. Neither officer was injured.
The investigation into the use of force is being led by the Clackamas Interagency Major Crimes Team and the Clackamas District Attorney’s Office. Investigators responded from Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Canby Police, Lake Oswego Police, and West Linn Police and the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office. This is in keeping with the Clackamas Interagency Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol.
