Clackamas County District Attorney Releases Update Officer Involved Shooting from June 28, 2024

The investigation into an officer involved use of deadly physical force which occurred on June 28th, 2024, remains in progress.

The investigation is being handled by the Clackamas Interagency Major Crimes team with detectives from Canby Police Department and West Linn Police Department as the lead investigators with support from Molalla Police, Oregon State Police, Milwaukie Police and the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office.

The involved deputy is Dep. Steven Tucker who is employed by the Clackamas Couty Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy with 9 years of experience.

The suspect in this case, who remains in serious condition at an area hospital is Joseph Brasuell, a 25-year-old, white male from Portland.

At the time of the incident, Brasuell was driving a stolen 2020 Kia and had felony warrants for Theft in the First Degree, Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver and Eluding a Police Officer.

In accordance with standard protocol, the involved deputy is on administrative leave currently. This case will be presented to the Clackamas County Grand Jury for review. No further information will be released until after the Grand Jury hearing.
