North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) is inviting residents to celebrate National Pollinator Week by discovering the wonderful world of pollinators through interactive activities, information booths and crafts.
All are invited to Pollination Celebration, a free, family-friendly event from 1-3 p.m. on June 22 at Stringfield Family Park in Oak Lodge. Children who attend the event will learn about pollinators through hands-on activities, including coloring sheets, games, and crafts. Children can also enjoy free face painting, popsicles, a flower photo booth and take-home wildflower seeds. Those who dress as their favorite pollinator will be entered to win a prize.
Pollinators play crucial roles to help sustain and improve our environment, and help pollinate over 180,000 different plant species and more than 1,200 crops. Approximately one out of every three bites of food you eat depends on the work of a pollinating animal.
Parks and green spaces have become increasingly important to supporting the vitality of diverse pollinator species. NCPRD is supporting local pollinators in a variety of ways, including planting pollinator-friendly gardens throughout the district and providing educational resources on the importance of pollinators. The Pollination Celebration is the perfect opportunity for neighbors and families to come together to learn how to support pollinator health in their community.
