Check Your Voter Registration and Make Your Party Choice before the April 30 Deadline

Voters can visit oregonvotes.gov to choose a party and get a presidential primary ballot.

Party Choice Deadline for party changes is April 30.

Oregon City, OR – More than 40 percent, or approximately 130,000 registered voters in Clackamas County are at risk of receiving a primary ballot without contests for Democratic or Republican candidates for office, including president in the upcoming May 21, 2024 Primary Election.

All Clackamas County registered voters will begin receiving ballots for the May 21, 2024 Primary Election in early May. Only those voters who have chosen a major political party will see the names of that party’s candidates on the ballot.

The good news: voters can easily update their party choice by visiting oregonvotes.gov and selecting a party by the April 30 Party Choice Deadline. Voters can also fill out an Oregon Voter Registration Card and return it to Clackamas County Elections postmarked by April 30. All changes to party affiliation must be complete by April 30.

The Clackamas County Elections office will be open late on Tuesday, April 30 to assist voters with any voter registration or elections questions.  The office is located at 1710 Red Soils Ct. in Oregon City and will be open April 30, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Regular hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

“We want all eligible voters to be VOTE Ready and be able to vote for the candidates of their choice,” Clerk Catherine McMullen shared. “Voters can easily check and update their party affiliation, as well as mailing address, online at oregonvotes.gov or come visit our office for in-person assistance. I encourage all Clackamas County voters wanting to update their party to do so as soon as possible and ensure that they meet the April 30 statutory deadline.”

Oregon makes registering to vote simple. Every citizen who gets an Oregon driver license or state identification is automatically registered to vote. More than 90% of all eligible voters are registered and this far outpaces the national rate with just 69% of voting-age Americans registered in 2022.
