March 20, 2024 — Some Clackamas County seniors will get an emissions-free ride this spring thanks to a new electric mobility van added to Social Services’ fleet.
The new Ford Transit E 360 is the first electric vehicle to be added to the county’s Transportation reaching People program, a curb-to-curb service that offers rides to residents of Clackamas County that are 65 years or older and/or experiencing a disability to live more independently.
The van was purchased thanks to grant funds from DEQ’s Oregon Clean Fuels Program via the PGE Drive Change Fund.
Clackamas’ newest transit van can comfortably transport three passengers in wheelchairs or six without mobility devices. The first ride took place March 5 with a rider who went shopping and to the bank.
“We’re on pace to deliver 8,000 rides this fiscal year,” said Program Manager Kristina Babcock, “so this is a program where we have a real opportunity to make an impact toward the county’s climate goals.”
