The following community-based groups play vital roles as members learn about proposed actions and policy changes and then provide valuable feedback and recommendations to county officials:
- Advisory Boards and Commissions (ABCs) offer community members the opportunity to provide input and advise the county on programs and policies. - Community Planning Organizations (CPOs) are independent organizations that engage with the county on proposed land-use actions and legislative changes within their boundaries and then advise the Board of County Commissioners. - Hamlets are agents of the county. The program was created in response to grass roots efforts by residents to increase involvement with the county and support their respective communities. By working with these volunteer groups, the county forms strong relationships with community members that are built on collaboration, understanding, trust and transparency.
