Edi Villalobos pled guilty June 8 to one count of first-degree assault in Clackamas County Circuit Court after an April 2021 stabbing incident at a Wilsonville apartment complex.
Villalobos was sentenced to 90 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections, and pursuant to Oregon’s Ballot Measure 11, which requires mandatory minimum sentences for certain felony crimes. Villalobos will not be eligible for any form of reduction in that sentence.
Villalobos’ guilty plea came on the heels of an April 10, 2021 incident when Villalobos arrived at the apartment of the victim. The two were recent acquaintances who knew each other through their respective girlfriends, who were also in the apartment at the time. After a short period, and without provocation, Villalobos jumped on top of the victim and began stabbing him repeatedly with a large knife Villalobos had concealed in his sock. Villalobos was eventually pulled off the victim, but the victim sustained numerous lacerations to his face, neck, chest, and arms, as well as to several arteries and nerves. Villalobos then fled the apartment with his girlfriend and was ultimately taken into custody in the Tigard/King City area following a vehicle and foot pursuit with police officers. The victim was flown to Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) by helicopter, where he spent weeks recovering from his injuries.
Pursuant to an agreement reached with Clackamas and Washington County prosecutors, Villalobos agreed to plead guilty to the Clackamas County assault charge and to additional, consecutive prison time for other crimes committed in Washington County. Villalobos is also charged with second-degree murder in Washington County and will go to trial on that charge later this
