The Clackamas County Clerk’s office has begun mailing ballots to West Linn registered voters for the March 14, 2023 Special Election for two city councilor positions.
While the election was originally scheduled for November 2022 – and appeared on the ballot at that time – an error found in the voting instructions in October prompted the Secretary of State to direct Clackamas County to not tally any results for the West Linn City Council contest and to conduct a special election for that contest in March 2023 using the correct ballot instructions.
Voters should check for their ballot in the mail soon. Ballots can be mailed back with a valid postmark or returned to an official ballot drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day, March 14, 2023. No postage is needed. Registered voters who haven’t received a ballot by March 2 should contact Clackamas County Elections for a replacement.

Public logic and accuracy tests will be held Monday, Feb. 27 at 9 a.m., Tuesday, March 14 at 9 a.m., and Thursday, April 6 at 2 p.m. A logic and accuracy test is the process used to validate that the optical ballot scanners are tabulating votes accurately. Election officials are required to test the voting machines three times for each election – twice before the election and again after all the ballots are counted. The public is welcome to observe this process.
Further information about the election can be found on the county Election Division’s March 14, 2023 Special Election webpage.
