Clackamas County is recruiting new volunteer leaders for its “Living Well with Chronic Conditions” workshop series.
Leaders work in pairs to facilitate a series of six weekly 2.5-hour workshops for small groups of 8-12 adults with ongoing health conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic pain, or anxiety.
Leaders guide participants through interactive topics like improving sleep, managing symptoms and medication, problem solving, communicating effectively, handling difficult emotions, and discovering relaxation/breathing techniques.
People who themselves live with chronic conditions – especially those who have attended the “Living Well” workshops – are particularly encouraged to apply.
Potential leaders are required to attend four all-day in-person training sessions Sept. 20, 22, 27 and 29. Volunteers must agree to co-facilitate at least one workshop series per year after completing training.
The registration deadline is Sept. 5. For more information, call 503-650-5796 or email livingwell@clackamas.us.
