A pair of attorneys in the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office recently won statewide awards for their work on behalf of the county.

Deputy District Attorney Jeremy Morrow was named the 2024 Oregon Drug/Property Crimes Prosecutor of the year, while fellow Deputy District Attorney Brian Powell was named the 2024 Oregon Legislative Advocate of the Year.

Clackamas County District Attorney John Wentworth, who was recently elected as president of the Oregon District Attorney’s Association, said earning these awards and positions demonstrates how his office is not only successful, but leading the way in Oregon’s criminal justice system.

“I’m consistently impressed by just how talented our employees in the district attorney’s office are,” Wentworth said. “I could not be more proud of this office – and Jeremy and Brian in particular – for standing out as the best in Oregon.”

Powell worked with the Oregon District Attorney Association’s (ODAA) legislative team on a wide range of issues, primarily on advancing the Clackamas County District Attorney Office’s proactive agenda, working to defeat bills that would be harmful to public safety and the criminal justice system and offering advice and insight on the criminal justice system to legislators and other policy makers. Meanwhile, Morrow stands out as a statewide expert on drug and property crimes. He professionalized and streamlined Clackamas County’s search warrant process, and now leads the office’s effort to prosecute drug dealers whose business enterprise causes the death of drug users. On behalf of ODAA, Morrow also acted as a subject matter expert in its effort to change the law to effectively prosecute drug dealers in Oregon once again.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Bryan Brock, a longtime fixture in the Clackamas County DA’s office, also was recently named as the Oregon District Attorney Association’s executive director. Brock is soon retiring from the DA’s Office after 25 years of service to the community, and will now lead the only organization in Oregon solely dedicated to assisting Oregon’s prosecutors in their pursuit of justice.
