CCSO Case #25-006478

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a serious traffic crash on South Kropf Rd, just north of South Gibson Rd in unincorporated Clackamas County.

When deputies arrived, they found a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban flipped on its side in a ditch. The driver, a 37-year-old woman from Woodburn, and her 6-year-old son had already been removed from the vehicle and were being treated by medical personnel at the scene before being transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

A short distance away, deputies also discovered a 2012 Chevrolet Express work van on the other side of the road. Firefighters were attempting to render first aid while also trying to remove the driver from the van. The driver of the van, 40-year-old Tyler Ryan Sahnow of Beaverton, died at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office inter-agency Criminal Reconstruction and Forensic Technicians (CRAFT) team responded to the location. Preliminary findings indicate the driver of the van may have left his lane of travel before crashing into the Suburban head-on. Investigators also believe that impairment may have been a factor in this crash.
