On Thursday, March 13, 2025, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Training Captain Michael Copenhaver graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia along with more than 240 law enforcement officers. The 293rd session consisted of men and women from 48 states and the District of Columbia, 24 countries, 11 military organizations, and four federal civilian organizations.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the FBI National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
FBI National Academy instructors, special agents, and other staff with advanced degrees provide the training; many instructors are recognized internationally in their fields. A total of 55,941 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935. The FBI National Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, the same facility where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts.
While attending the FBI National Academy Captain Copenhaver had the opportunity to participate in the International Partnership Program where he was able to mentor an international student from the Country of Thailand.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate Captain Copenhaver on his accomplishment and welcome him back to the agency. We look forward to his continued contributions to Clackamas County.
