Sheriff’s Office investigates death involving train in Clackamas

On Sunday, February 16, 2025, at approximately 10:13 a.m., Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a train on the Union Pacific rail line near SE 82nd Avenue in Clackamas.

Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed that a northbound Amtrak train was involved. Preliminary findings indicate that the female victim may have been walking on or near the tracks when she was struck. She did not survive the collision.

There were no reported injuries among the train’s passengers or crew. The Sheriff’s Office is conducting this investigation with support from Amtrak and Union Pacific Railroad. The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office is also involved in the investigation.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notifications.
