On Friday, January 17, 2025, at approximately 1:45 p.m., search teams were able to make voice contact with the missing climber near the Paradise Park Trailhead. Additional resources, including the American Medical Response (ARM) Reach and Treat (RAT) Team worked to reach the man who was stuck in difficult terrain. At approximately 2:45 p.m., rescuers were able to locate the climber who appeared to be in good condition. The man, identified as Brendan Davis of Spokane, WA, was able to hike back with the rescuers to the trailhead where he was reunited with family members.

EARLIER (January 17, 2024): Sheriff’s Office searching for missing climber on Mount Hood
CCSO Case #25-001149
On Thursday, January 16, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a climber on Mount Hood had become lost after summiting the mountain. The 26-year-old man from Washington had started the climb from Timberline Lodge with a friend when they became separated while on the descent. Weather conditions were very foggy at the time.
The Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team was immediately activated to help locate the missing climber. Searchers from Portland Mountain Rescue worked late into Thursday night to try to locate the man, following leads based on cell phone signals.
Additional teams, including Clackamas Search and Rescue (CSAR) volunteers, Mountain Wave SAR, PNW Search & Rescue, and Hood River Crag Rats, joined the mission Friday morning. Air support has also been deployed from the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office and the Air National Guard with coordination from Oregon Emergency Management.
