The Sheriff's Office has identified and contacted a person of interest in its ongoing investigation of a suspicious Jan. 7 bus-stop encounter involving a teenager.

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, the Sheriff’s Office deployed multiple deputies to patrol the area of SE Monterey Ave near SE 90th Ave in unincorporated Clackamas County in response to the suspicious verbal encounter that had reportedly occurred a day prior. During this encounter, a teenaged girl reported that she was verbally contacted by a man driving a Kia Rio as she waited to board a school bus.

At around 9 a.m. on Jan. 8, a deputy identified and stopped a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle near SE Monterey Ave and SE 85th Ave.

Deputies detained and interviewed the driver and are continuing to investigate the incident. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed. Investigators urge anyone with information on the Jan. 7 encounter to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near a bus stop along SE Monterey Ave near SE 90th Ave in unincorporated Clackamas County. 

A high-school student reported a suspicious verbal encounter with a man while she waited to board the school bus. She safely boarded the bus, reported the encounter to her bus driver, and the driver promptly reported the incident.

A Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer (SRO) was alerted to the situation and is investigating the incident. The Sheriff’s Office is also working with the North Clackamas School District.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 40-50 years old, driving a beige or champagne colored Kia Rio.
