Wilsonville Police investigate Dec. 30th shooting; suspect arrested in Salem

Date

Wilsonville PD Case #24-027418

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, deputies from the Wilsonville Police Department responded to reports of gunfire near an apartment complex in the 26000 block of SW Canyon Creek Road, Wilsonville. Multiple 911 callers reported hearing an argument in the area followed by gunshots.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered evidence of gunfire in the complex parking lot, including damage to at least two vehicles, which appeared to have been caused by the shooting. However, those involved in the incident had left the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival.

Shortly after, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R) responded to a medical call at a nearby location involving a woman who had sustained a gunshot wound. Investigators believe the woman was injured during the initial incident and was accompanied by two other adults who drove her to the location where she was met by TVF&R and law enforcement. The woman was transported to a Portland-area hospital, where her condition remains unknown at this time.

Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office detectives joined the investigation, and the shooting suspect was identified as 31-year-old Brandon Edyl Arroyo of Wilsonville. Investigators determined Arroyo and the female victim are known to each other. Shortly before 9:30 p.m., Salem Police were able to locate Arroyo and took him into custody.

Arroyo has been booked into the Clackamas County Jail and is being held without bail on charges of Attempted murder in the second-degree, Assault in the first degree, and unlawful use of a weapon.

The Wilsonville Police Department was supported in this investigation by the Sherwood Police Department, Tigard Police Department, Tualatin Police Department, Salem Police Department, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and American Medical Response.
