On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Carlos Raul Hererra-Medrano, age 20 of Gresham, on charges related to the shooting in the parking area near Clackamas Town Center on December 20, 2024.
Herrera-Medrano was arrested in Gresham with assistance from our law enforcement partners at the U.S. Marshals Service. He was booked into the Clackamas County Jail where he is being held without bail on charges of Attempted murder in the second degree and Assault in the second degree.
Detectives executed a search warrant at an apartment in Gresham and located evidence related to the incident, including a firearm.
This remains an active investigation and detectives would like to hear from anyone with information about this case.

EARLIER (December 21, 2024): Sheriff’s Office arrests suspect in parking lot shooting
CCSO Case #24-0026726
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Pedro Anthony Cornejo-Morales, age 18 from Gresham, on charges related to the shooting in the parking area near Clackamas Town Center on Friday. Investigators believe Cornejo-Morales shot a 15-year-old male victim in the hand. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
As Cornejo-Morales fled the scene, deputies quickly located him hiding behind a nearby building and took him into custody. Shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday, Cornejo-Morales was booked into the Clackamas County Jail on charges of Assault in the first degree, Assault in the second degree, Unlawful use of a weapon, and Attempted Murder in the second degree.
This remains an active investigation and detectives would like to hear from anyone with information about this case.

EARLIER (December 20, 2024): Sheriff’s Office investigating shooting near Clackamas shopping mall; tips wanted
CCSO Case #24-0026726
Shortly before 3:00 p.m., Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the Clackamas Town Center, located at 12000 SE 82nd Avenue, to reports of a shooting in the south parking area. When deputies arrived, they quickly located a section of the parking lot where the shooting likely occurred. A person of interest was detained for questioning. One person was transported to a nearby hospital with what appears to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
At this time, investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no on-going danger to the public. The Sheriff’s Office is working closely with property managers and the mall security team to maintain safety and security for people shopping and visiting restaurants and businesses at the mall. Clackamas Town Center remains open for normal business during this busy holiday season.
