CCSO Case # 24-025129

Shortly before 9 p.m. on November 28, 2024 (Thanksgiving), Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies learned that Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies were pursuing a man suspected in multiple Clackamas County burglaries. The suspect was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on Interstate 5 heading toward Woodburn.

As the pursuit entered Clackamas County, spike strips were used to successfully deflate several of the Tahoe’s tires.

With Clackamas County deputies taking the lead, the suspect continued northbound on Highway 99E while continuing to drive on partially deflated tires. Just before entering the City of Canby, a Clackamas County deputy executed a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver, causing the Tahoe to come to a stop near the Highway 99E bridge over the Molalla River.

The suspect, identified as Derek Seledkov, age 35, of Salem, the only occupant in the vehicle, refused to comply with deputies’ commands and claimed to be armed with a gun. Members of the Clackamas County Interagency SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) deployed to assist. After a prolonged standoff, Seledkov was safely taken into custody and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the standoff.

On December 4, after being released from the hospital, deputies booked Seledkov into the Clackamas County Jail on charges of Theft in the Third Degree, Attempt to Elude a Police Officer, Burglary in the Second Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Reckless Driving. He was also booked on nine outstanding warrants from Marion County (including DUII, Resisting Arrest, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm), and six drug-related warrants from Polk County. At this time, Seledkov remains in custody without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on December 5.

Deputies believe Seledkov may be involved in at least one burglary in Clackamas County. In accordance with Oregon House Bill 3273, we are releasing Seledkov's booking photo from this incident to assist with identifying additional criminal activity.
