EARLIER (September 2, 2024): Sheriff’s Office resumes search for woman missing in Willamette River
CCSO Case # 24-018297
On Sunday, September 1, 2024, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a water rescue call on the Willamette River near Molalla River State Park in unincorporated Clackamas County, near Canby. Callers to 9-1-1 reported that a 34-year-old woman had fallen off a boat and into the river and had not resurfaced.
This resulted in a significant response involving the Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium and several other agencies. The Canby Fire District was first on scene. The Canby Police Department, the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, and water rescue swimmers from American Medical Response (AMR) also assisted.
Searchers deployed multiple resources in addition to several boats on the water. Divers from the Sheriff’s Office and the Lake Oswego Fire Department deployed in the river and drones were used to search from the air. Unfortunately, searchers were unable to locate the woman, and the search was suspended at nightfall.
The Sheriff’s Office resumed the search for the missing woman Monday.
At this time, the identity of the woman is not being released.
