Traffic Safety Mission Leads to 5 Arrests, 14 Towed Vehicles and 99 Traffic Citations

Date
Traffic Safety Mission

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office led a traffic safety mission focused on a planned car rally with a past history of attendees engaging in unsafe and illegal conduct. These events have previously resulted in numerous traffic disruptions and reckless driving behaviors, including attempts to takeover streets. Activities such as these create a public safety risk, disrupt traffic, and delay first responders responding to emergencies.

Beginning around 4:00 p.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit and several partner agencies used saturation patrols in the Clackamas area of SE 82nd Avenue and SE Monterey Avenue to deter criminal conduct and enforce traffic violations.

The traffic safety mission resulted in the arrest of five people on charges including reckless driving, hit-and-run with property damage, and outstanding warrants. 121 traffic stops were conducted, 99 traffic citations were issued, 14 vehicles were towed and 47 warnings were given.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the following agencies for partnering with us in this traffic safety mission:

  • Lake Oswego Police Department
  • Oregon City Police Department
  • Oregon State Police
  • Tualatin Police Department
  • West Linn Police Department
