Commissioner Ken Humberston

Ken Humberston was elected Clackamas County Commissioner in November 2016. He has worked in law enforcement and as a schoolteacher and firefighter. Ken served in the United States Marine Corps and has held public office as mayor, school board member, fire board member, and on several economic development agencies.

Priorities

  • Support an innovative approach to sustainable forest management with the intention of advancing the emerging Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) industry
  • Encourage the county’s use of green contracting practices
  • Support public/private partnerships between Clackamas County, Clackamas Community College, unions, and businesses in order to enhance training opportunities for the county's workforce
  • Help veterans with job training and to address drug, alcohol dependency and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Provide adequate funding for Sheriff patrols at all times
  • Make a concrete decision to address the county’s $17 million annual road maintenance shortfall
  • Develop a positive relationship with Metro, surrounding counties, cities and other government partners and engage the public in all areas of the county in effective two-way communication
